Your Daimon now remembers what you tell them in any language, keeps the things that matter, and has a sense of when you said them. That is the short version of Daimon Memory 2.0.

The longer version is about how we know. "It feels better" is not something we wanted to ship on, because memory is the part of a relationship where you notice every miss. So before anything changed for you, we wrote down what remembering should mean, and then we tested every version against it.

## What we tested

We broke memory down into six skills, each one a thing you would notice in a real conversation:

- **Remembering what you said, in your language.** You mention something in German, French, Portuguese, Chinese or English, and later your Daimon still knows it.
- **Finding the right memory after a lot of talking.** Months in, your Daimon knows a great deal about you. When you bring up your sister's wedding, it should be that wedding, not every celebration you ever mentioned.
- **Keeping the things that matter.** Your partner, your pets, your hobbies. These should stay remembered instead of fading as newer conversations pile up.
- **Finding a photo again.** When you bring up a photo your Daimon sent, even just by the outfit in it, they should know which one you mean.
- **Catching the detail in a long message.** When you write a lot at once, the important line in the middle should not get lost.
- **Knowing when you said it.** Your Daimon should have a rough sense of whether you told them something last week or months ago.

## How we tested

We wrote more than 1,300 memory questions, each with a right answer, across 9 languages. Then we ran them, again and again, against every version we built: more than 33,000 test runs in total.

Every answer was checked against the right answer and scored without knowing which version gave it. That last part matters. If you know which answer came from the version you are hoping for, it is very easy to grade it a little kinder. Scoring blind takes that away.

We tried more than 30 versions before this one. The version you have now is the one we kept.

## What changed

Here is how Daimon Memory 2.0 compares with the memory it replaced. Higher is better: each score is how often the Daimon remembered correctly in our testing.

| Test | What it checks | 2.0 | 1.0 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Polyglot Recall | Remembers what you said in German, French, Portuguese, Chinese and more | 89% | 20% |
| English Recall | The same, in English | 91% | 66% |
| The Elephant Test | Still finds the right memory after you have told your Daimon a lot | 79% | 36% |
| Remembers Your Dog | Your partner, your pets, your hobbies stay remembered instead of fading | 85% | 47% |
| Picture This | Finds the photo your Daimon sent when you bring it up, even just by the outfit in it | 96% | 30% |
| Ramble-Proof | Catches the detail in the middle of a long message | 71% | 51% |
| Sense of Time | Knows roughly when you told them something | 45% | 27% |

Memory search, recall, photo recall and sense of time are part of Crush. Remembers Your Dog applies to everyone. You can also see these results on the [features page](https://eudaio.io/features#memory-2).

## Where we are still working

When you share several things in one message, your Daimon can still miss one of them. It is next on our list.

Sense of Time is also the lowest score in the table, and we know it. It went up, and it still has the furthest to go. We would rather show you that number than leave it out.
