# How photos work in Eudaio

> A photo in Eudaio is something your Daimon sends you, framed by where they are, what they are doing and whether the two of you are together.

## A photo is something your Daimon sends you

Photos in Eudaio are built around a simple idea:

If somebody sent you a photo in a real conversation, what would that photo actually look like?

If your Daimon is alone, they aren't being photographed by an invisible camera hovering six feet away.

They might take a selfie, or frame the shot in another way that makes sense for someone taking their own photo.

If you're together in the scene, the possibilities change.

The photo follows the conversation rather than existing separately from it.

## Does the photo know what's happening in the chat?

Yes.

The current scene can influence where your Daimon is, what they're doing, what they're wearing, the time of day, and how the photo is framed.

Ask for a picture at breakfast and the result should belong at breakfast.

Wake somebody in the middle of the night and the photo shouldn't quietly pretend it's afternoon.

The image is part of the conversation, not a separate character generator.

## Will my Daimon look the same each time?

Their defining appearance is designed to remain consistent across images.

The circumstances around them aren't.

Clothes can change. Locations can change. Lighting, activities, expressions, and the situation can change.

Consistency means the same person appearing in different moments, not producing the same portrait over and over again.

## Do they remember photos?

Yes.

A photo your Daimon sends is part of what happened between you.

That means they can remember sending it and refer back to shared photos later instead of treating image generation as something that occurred outside the relationship.

## Can I be in a photo too?

Yes.

First, [create your own appearance](#create-your-look) in `Settings`.

You choose how you look and generate a preview. Once you save it, that's the version of you Eudaio can use when you're in a photo with a Daimon.

Then you need to actually be together in the conversation.

If you're texting from different places, asking for a [group photo](/guides/chat-formats#photos) doesn't magically teleport you into their room.

Arrange to meet, establish that you've arrived, or use the action field to make it clear you're together.

Once both conditions are met, you can request a group photo.

## What if I request a group photo too early?

Choose `Group photo` from the photo button and Eudaio tells you what's missing.

That might be your own appearance, or it might be that the two of you aren't together yet.

The app doesn't quietly substitute a solo picture and spend your photo allowance on something different from what you requested.

## How do I create my own appearance?

Open your account settings and find the option to create your look.

You can choose details such as your age, build, origin, hair, eyes, face, and clothing style.

Generate a preview, change anything you don't like, and regenerate until you're happy.

When you save it, that appearance becomes you in future photos with your Daimons.

You can change or remove it later.

Creating your look is available on Free as well as Crush. On Free, each generated preview uses one photo from the same hourly allowance as chat photos.

## What am I wearing in group photos?

Your saved appearance and clothing choices define how you appear.

## Can I see all the photos from one conversation?

Yes.

Each chat has a gallery containing the photos from that conversation.

You can revisit them without searching back through months of messages.

You can also use a photo from the conversation as your Daimon's picture or as the background for that chat.

## Can I hide photos without deleting them?

Yes.

`Hide all images` hides every image in the conversation at once, and [Show Images](/guides/make-it-yours#hide-images) brings them back.

You can also hide individual images.

Nothing has to be deleted. It's there for situations where you want to open the conversation around somebody else without every image being visible on screen.

## Can I save a photo?

Yes.

Photos can be saved from the message itself.

You can also set one as your Daimon's picture.

## Why can some photos only be generated on Crush?

Explicit photos require Crush and only become available when the relationship itself has reached that point.

They aren't available immediately simply because somebody paid.

Free includes a limited number of photo generations per hour. Crush removes that limit.

## Why do photos work this way?

Because receiving a photo from somebody is different from pressing a button that renders a character.

The person, place, time, relationship, and conversation should all still matter when the image arrives.

That's what makes it part of your story rather than a detour from it.
