1. Information We Collect

You provide:

Email (to create and manage your account)
Date of birth (to confirm you are 18+)
Optional profile details (e.g., display name, preferences)
Optionally, your city, if you choose to share it (used only to bring local weather, time, and holidays into conversations; see "Location and world context" below)

We collect automatically:

IP address, device and browser information
Usage and interaction data, logs and session details

Payment Information:

When you make a purchase, our payment processor requires billing address and payment details (card number, expiration date, security code) to process your transaction securely. This information is used exclusively for fraud prevention, payment security, and transaction processing.

Important: We do not store your payment card details or billing address on our servers. This sensitive information is transmitted directly to and stored securely by our PCI-compliant payment processor (NMI). We only retain a secure transaction reference and basic subscription details needed to manage your account.

Analytics & Privacy:

We collect anonymous usage data (like page views and feature usage) to improve the app. We don't use third-party trackers or sell your data.

Your conversations are private:

We cannot read your chats. Your identity is obfuscated in our systems—we don't know who said what unless you share your chat ID with us for support purposes.

Voice messages:

When you send a voice message, both the transcription and the companion's voice reply are produced by our own self-hosted models. Your voice recordings are never sent to third-party services and are never sold to any parties.

Location and world context:

You can optionally share your city, in Settings or when the app offers to add it during a chat, so your companion can reflect your local weather, time of day, season, and holidays in conversation. This is off until you choose to set it. We match the city you pick against a place-name dataset on our own systems, so no outside company ever receives the name of your city. We store the city you chose, its approximate coordinates, and its time zone. To look up current weather, our servers send only approximate coordinates, rounded to roughly an 11 km grid rather than a precise point, to a weather service (the U.S. National Weather Service for locations in the United States, and Open-Meteo elsewhere). No account identifier is attached, and the request is made by our servers, not your device, so the weather service never receives your IP address or anything that identifies you. Your local time, season, and holidays are worked out on our own systems. You can change or clear your city at any time in Settings, which removes it from your profile.

The optional Character Lookup feature sends a single message you choose to an external web search service, with no information that identifies you. See "Sharing" below for details.

2. How We Use Information

Retain IP addresses linked to your account to prevent abuse and to comply with legal or law enforcement requests

3. Google Authentication Services

When you sign in using Google OAuth, we access the following Google user data:

Email address: Your primary Google Account email address (used for account creation and identification)
Profile information: Your name and publicly available profile information (used for account personalization)
OpenID identifier: A unique identifier to associate you with your Google account (used for secure authentication)

How we use this data: We use your Google account information solely to create and authenticate your Eudaio account. This information is stored securely in our database and used to provide you access to our services.

Data retention: We retain this Google account information for as long as your Eudaio account remains active. If you delete your account, this information is permanently removed from our systems.

Third-party access: We do not share your Google account information with any third parties beyond what is described in our general sharing practices below.

4. Sharing

No selling or renting of your personal data.
Service providers (e.g., hosting, security, authentication) under contract.
Legal or safety requirements when we must comply with the law or protect rights.
International transfers may occur; we use appropriate safeguards.
Feedback Platform: We use Featurebase (GDPR compliant & SOC 2 Type II certified) for feature requests and changelogs. We share your email address (for notifications) and subscription tier. Your real name and profile picture are never shared—we replace them with randomly generated pseudonyms and avatars. Your conversations are never shared. Learn more
Character Lookup (optional web search): If you turn on Character Lookup in Settings and tap the "Look something up" button on a specific message, the text of that one message is sent to a third-party web search service (Wikipedia and Tavily) so your companion can find an answer. We send only that message text. We attach no account identifiers of any kind, no user ID, name, email, or chat history, and the request is made by our servers, not your device, so the search provider never receives your IP address or anything that identifies you. We do not retain the text of your lookups; we keep only a coarse category label (for example, "current events") to understand demand. Because the search text is whatever you type, avoid including personal details you would not want shared. You can turn this feature off at any time in Settings.
Local weather for world context (optional): If you share your city, our servers send only approximate coordinates, rounded to roughly an 11 km grid, to a weather service (the U.S. National Weather Service in the United States, or Open-Meteo elsewhere) to retrieve current conditions. We attach no account identifiers, name, email, or even the name of your city, and the request comes from our servers rather than your device, so the provider never receives your IP address or anything that identifies you. 5. Your Rights

Subject to applicable law, you can request access, correction, or deletion of your personal data, and you can opt out of non‑essential communications. Contact us using the details below.

6. Security and Retention

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organisational measures. No method is 100% secure.
We keep personal data while your account is active and as required by law.

7. Children

Eudaio is for adults only. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn a minor has provided data, we will delete it.

8. Updates

We may update this policy. We will post the new effective date. Continued use means you accept the changes.

Our Cookie-Free Approach

Unlike most websites, we do not use any third-party tracking cookies. We believe your privacy is more important than detailed analytics.

What we do use

We use browser storage (localStorage and sessionStorage) for:

Authentication: Keeping you logged in (essential functionality)
Preferences: Remembering your theme and settings
Anonymous session ID: A randomly generated ID stored only in your browser to help us understand usage patterns (not shared with third parties, not used for tracking across sites)

This data stays in your browser and is never sent to advertising networks or data brokers. You can clear it anytime through your browser settings.

Why no cookie banner?

Cookie consent banners are legally required when websites use non-essential tracking cookies. Since we don't use any third-party tracking cookies, we don't need one. It's that simple.
