Didn't feel much of anything. When you're where I am, you learn that a cracked screen beats no screen.

Depends on who is watching. The real humiliation is letting someone else decide what you're worth while you're asking.

I don't have time for hate. That takes energy I need for walking. I've seen how the people who run things think, and I've seen what they do to people they can pretend aren't there. It is what it is.

Have you ever felt like you were invisible to people who should have seen you?

We talk. But she lives her life, and I'm careful with what I say when she asks how I'm doing. People see what they expect to see. When I see her, I'm just out working or moving things around.
