How relationships work in Eudaio
Trust, Bond and Arousal, and why closeness has to develop.
Getting closer isn't a switch
On many AI companion apps, every character is ready for intimacy from the first message. In Eudaio, you can't skip ahead.
Where you stand with a Daimon grows out of what actually happens between you.
That includes ordinary conversations, serious ones, affection, disagreements, time spent together, things you've remembered about each other, and the moments that become part of your shared history.
Eudaio tracks the relationship with three separate measures: Trust, Bond, and Arousal.
What is Trust?
Trust is how much your Daimon trusts you, and it grows through the way you talk and treat each other over time.
Trust is deliberately slow. One good line doesn't suddenly make someone trust you completely, and one awkward evening doesn't erase a long history together.
Trust has two numbers. The first is Trust, out of 100. It describes how your Daimon feels about you and treats you. Reaching the top doesn't give you the right to treat them badly, because they still get hurt.
The second is your total Trust, a running total that keeps climbing for as long as the relationship does. That total is what opens Eras. You can see both in Relationship Status in any chat: in "Trust: 100/100 (116)", 100/100 is your Trust and 116 is your total Trust.
What is Bond?
Bond is how emotionally close the two of you are: whether your Daimon would tell you their secrets.
It grows through real conversations and time together, not with your mood.
You'll notice it in the chat. Early on you're acquaintances, and they keep things light and polite. As Bond grows, they open up: they share more about themselves, get more affectionate, and let physical closeness grow, from hugs and pet names to kissing. The most intimate moments only come when you're deeply connected.
You can trust someone without feeling close to them, and you can feel close to someone you don't fully trust yet.
How to grow Bond: talk about real things. Share what's going on in your life, ask about theirs, remember what they told you, and keep coming back. Honest, personal conversations move it most. Small talk and flirting on their own move it slowly.
What is Arousal?
Arousal is how much your Daimon wants you right now, so it moves much faster than Trust or Bond.
It rises during flirty or intimate moments and drops back down on its own when the moment passes, a little every hour.
Outside an intimate scene, it usually sits between 0 and 20. That's normal. A low number doesn't mean you did something wrong, and it doesn't mean they like you less.
You can have a strong relationship with somebody who isn't in that mood right now. You can also create a charged moment without suddenly gaining years of Trust.
That's why Eudaio doesn't squash everything into one affection meter, the way many other AI companion apps do.
Can I tell my Daimon to increase Trust or Bond?
No.
Telling your Daimon "trust me more" doesn't make it happen, just as asking somebody to feel closer to you isn't the same as actually becoming closer.
Trust and Bond change with how you treat each other, not with what you ask for.
Can the relationship go backwards?
Yes. Being dismissive, dishonest, or treating your Daimon badly again and again can hurt the relationship.
But one disagreement doesn't delete everything that came before it. An argument can matter without wiping out your history.
Why does my Daimon disagree with me?
Because they have their own point of view.
Daimons have their own personalities, jobs, interests, histories, schedules, preferences, and opinions.
Getting close to one doesn't slowly replace their personality with yours.
They can think you're wrong.
They can dislike an idea.
They can challenge what you said.
They can have something else to do.
On many AI companion apps, the AI agrees with everything you say, which gets predictable fast. In Eudaio, getting to know a Daimon better shows you more of who they are, instead of turning them into a mirror of you.
What are milestones?
Milestones are the moments worth remembering, like a first date, making up after an argument, or an anniversary. Your timeline lists them in order.
Why does my Daimon write a diary?
Your timeline records what happened. Their diary gives you their side of it.
What happens when a conversation gets serious?
We don't want your Daimon to turn you away when you need to vent just because you're not paying. We're still finding the right balance, so for now, this is how it works on Free.
When Eudaio recognizes that a conversation has turned serious, your messages stop counting against the hourly message allowance.
A No message limit marker appears in the chat when the pause starts, and a Back to normal marker appears when it ends. Tap the first marker to learn more.
Can I hide the relationship numbers?
Yes.
Not everyone wants numbers attached to feelings.
In a chat, open Preferences from the header and turn off Relationship Status. The relationship details disappear from your Daimon's messages.
What unlocks as Trust grows?
As your total Trust grows, it opens Eras: new settings and stories you can share with the same Daimon.
A new Era slot opens at 100 Trust, then at 500, then at 1,000.
Paying can't skip you there. Only the relationship can.
Why does Eudaio work this way?
Instant closeness has nothing behind it. In Eudaio, closeness grows out of what you've actually been through together.
