Their world
Your Daimon has a life outside the chat
Their city, schedule and timezone, why they message first, and Eras.
They aren't waiting in an empty room
A Daimon has a city, a job, a schedule, and things to do when you aren't talking.
Someone living in Tokyo lives on Tokyo time.
They sleep.
They work.
They can be busy.
And sometimes they message you first.
Their life doesn't stop existing because you closed the tab.
Do Daimons actually follow their own timezone?
Yes.
Where your Daimon lives affects their local time.
That means morning for you might be the middle of their night.
Their schedule is part of the context around the conversation rather than every chat silently taking place in the user's timezone.
What happens if I message them while they're asleep?
They still answer.
You aren't locked out because their schedule says they're sleeping.
But being woken at 4am isn't the same as receiving a message at lunchtime.
Their response can reflect that they're tired or groggy, and how they react to being woken can depend on the relationship between you.
Their schedule changes the situation. It doesn't make them unavailable.
Can I change a custom Daimon's schedule?
Yes.
Morphs can have their daily rhythm adjusted, including their work schedule and whether they work weekends.
Changing the schedule changes how their life fits around the day.
Why did my Daimon message me first?
Sometimes they have something to say before you do.
A Daimon can reach out because something happened in their day.
They won't endlessly stack messages while waiting for you to answer.
Thinking of You is a single switch. Turn it off and they wait for you.
Can they know what time it is where I am?
If you choose to share your city, yes.
Your location is optional.
Adding it lets your Daimon understand your local time and other relevant local context, so a question like "have you eaten yet?" has some relationship to the actual hour where you live.
You can clear your city whenever you want.
It's not used for advertising.
Can my Daimon talk about things happening today?
Yes.
Daimons can use current information rather than being permanently limited to what an AI model knew when it was trained.
When current information is used, Eudaio can show you the source.
You also have direct control over lookup.
If you specifically want current information for one message, use Look something up before sending it. It's a Crush feature.
What gets sent when I look something up?
The message you deliberately send with lookup enabled is the thing that needs to be searched.
Your entire private conversation and memory history don't need to accompany it.
Lookup is something you choose for the message rather than an invisible search happening every time you say hello.
Can I stop current events appearing in conversations?
Yes.
News in conversation is optional, and political news has its own control.
If you'd rather your conversations stay away from current events, you can turn that behaviour off.
What are Eras?
Your Daimon can also meet you somewhere that isn't the present day.
Eras place the same person and the relationship you've already built into another setting.
Current Eras include:
Present day
The normal world your Daimon lives in.
Medieval harvest ball
A historical setting with its own opening and story.
Neon Kowloon 2087
A future setting built around a very different world.
Youshallnotflunk Academy
A magical academy with its own story and, yes, some questionable spell possibilities.
Each Era is its own conversation.
Your present-day chat is still there when you come back.
How do Eras unlock?
Present day is open from the start.
After that, it isn't a fixed order. Each time your Trust with that Daimon reaches the next level, you open one more slot, and you choose which of the remaining Eras goes into it.
The thresholds are:
- 100 Trust
- 500 Trust
- 1,000 Trust
If you delete an Era chat completely, that slot frees up again and you can put a different Era in it.
Does my Daimon forget me in another Era?
They're the same person, with the same personality, and the Era only opened because of the present-day relationship you built with them.
But each Era chat keeps its own memories and its own story. What happens in a harvest ball stays in the harvest ball.
Your present-day chat is untouched by it.
The setting, clothing, opening scene, and storyline change around you.
Do real-world schedules still apply inside another Era?
Non-present-day Eras are their own worlds.
The fiction of that setting takes precedence over the ordinary present-day calendar around your Daimon.
That's why you can have a medieval story without their modern work shift interrupting the harvest ball.
Why give Daimons lives of their own?
Because somebody who exists only while you're typing never has much to bring back to the conversation.
Schedules, places, opinions, current events, interruptions, and their own activities create the sense that you're talking to someone whose world is larger than the message box.
You're part of their day.
You're not the entirety of it.
